Our history.

The following combines the history of 2 powerful teams coming together under one umbrella organization - Welcome to Hardwood Next Wave Cycling!

Team Hardwood started at Hardwood Hills in the late 90s, with the help and support of Kim and Dave Viney. In 1998, Team Hardwood was established as a not-for-profit organization, and this is really where the tradition of excellence begins. One of the keys to Team Hardwood's success and longevity over the years has been our focus on creating not only great athletes but outstanding citizens. People who have been a part of the Team Hardwood family over the years are still active not only in cycling but in their community as well.

Team Hardwood is one of the biggest, longest-running, and most successful mountain bike development programs in Canada. Having a world-class facility and partner in Hardwood Ski and Bike (HSB), host to countless National Championships, Canada Cup Races, and the 2015 Pan Am Games, HSB has provided the ultimate training and development grounds for our athletes. A history of excellence that can be attributed to a commitment to fun, family, and friendships, that will be sustainable for many years to come.

Next wave cycling and our future.

Centurion Next Wave Cycling is one of Canada's top development teams focused on bringing young cyclists to the next level.

The team started in 2014 as Next Wave Cycling and dominated the Youth Cup circuit. This attracted our title sponsor: Centurion Cycling, allowing the team to step up their program in 2015.

In 2015 the team performed incredibly well at the junior level, winning top races in the province and the Tour de la Releve in Rimouski. In 2016 CNW continued to show their winning form with excellent results again in Rimouski and a stage win at Tour d'Abitibi, amongst other races. A number of our athletes have now "graduated" from our program and continue to enjoy success on the national and international stage on various pro-level road racing and cyclocross teams. At the same time, our youth athletes are coming along to take their place.

For the 2017 season, the team formally expanded to include all disciplines: road racing, MTB, and cyclocross. The team also enjoys a new "home base" facility at Hardwood Ski and Bike. The wealth of cycling talent in our region continues to impress around the world.
