I’ve raced with the Next Wave Cycling Team for a couple of years now and have worked with Rob Holmgren for even longer. This past year I earned a spot on the Garneau Easton Cyclocross Team and had a pretty successful season while attending McMaster University for my first semester studying Kinesiology. Next year I will be racing for the Highgate Cycling Team for Road and mountain biking.
The Next Wave program provided more than just a kit to wear to races. It came with great people who were focused to see me succeed. It was the stepping stone, and the learning block that has gotten me to where I am today.
I am now a second year pro with H&R Block continental cycling team.
I started racing with CNW when the team formed in 2014. From there, CNW gave me the passion and skills for the sport, which I still use everyday. Now I am currently living in Europe training for my first year in the Continental Americas Tour.
When I was four years old, I raced ‘Sprockids’ on a Hardwood Wednesday Night and was immediately hooked on Cycling. I would continue to spend the next 10 years zooming around the trails of Hardwood Ski and Bike, racing every Wednesday with my best-friends in the ‘Silver Devo Program’. I joined Centurion Next Wave in it’s inaugural season alongside 7 of my closest buddies, which began my slow transition into a Road Cyclist. I instantly loved the mental game behind the Peloton; the role of tactics added another dimension to my racing. The three years I spent in the Centurion Next Wave were vital to my development, beginning with getting dropped at Youth Cups, and ending as National Team Athlete in 2016. Currently I am racing with the Toronto Hustle Team throughout North America, with the goal of securing a Professional Contract in 2019.
I am a student-athlete currently at McMaster University and entering my 3rd year in the U23 category! This is also going to be my 5th year on the Trek Canada Mountain Bike Team, and my 2nd year as a NextGen athlete coached by Jeff Ain. I race on the international level at World Championships and World Cups with the National Team, on the national level at Canada Cups, at the provincial level at O-Cups, and I still love to make it out to the Wednesday Night Races at Hardwood where it all began for me!
I’ve been racing for 5 years now and mostly focusing on cyclocross and road. I had the opportunity to race with CNW two years ago for one season of each cyclocross and road and learned so much from such a supportive and fun group of people. I now race for Cannondale p/b Cyclocrossworld.com (and Rise Racing on the road) and have spent the last 2 cyclocross seasons traveling around the United States to race with them. After my best season to date, this year will be the 3rd year in a row that I will compete for Canada at the World Championships for cyclocross.
I grew up and started cycling very close to Hardwood Ski and Bike, in Horseshoe Valley. Hardwood is where I tried out racing for the first time. From that moment, I (and my family) fell in love with riding and went through the ranks of Team Hardwood in my early years. To me, cycling is about the freedom on the bike and gaining friendships you know will last, along with shredding descents. Now, I race for the Norco Factory Team on the World stage. See you out on the trails!
In 2007 Peter started racing the weekly series at Hardwood with some high school friends. Since then he moved through the ranks of the Team Hardwood program and beyond. Now Peter prepares for his first year Elite with the Norco Factory Team on the world stage. Peter continues to chase his aspirations to become an Olympian.
