HNW announces 2020 Programs

This week we have sent the following note to all our 2019 members to outline our 2020 offering. The website is being rebuilt to reflect the changes and will be available for registrations mid-January.

As sent…….

We have received considerable feedback from members about creating a more robust program with structured offerings extending well beyond the Wednesday night series. Also, we recognize that some of our members are quite happy to continue a “once a week” offering. So… in keeping with how we see the OCA heading for A,B,C,D seeding, we are preparing a similar approach within our coaching – allowing movement within a program throughout the year as skills and challenges dictate.

So our 4 programs for 2020……

1.) Devo – program designed for athletes primarily riding at Hardwood Ski and Bike and is delivered every Wednesday night in conjunction with the 18 week Wednesday night race series. The program includes coaching 5:30-6:45, HSB trail pass $80., HSB Wednesday night race series $120., kit $120. Program Cost $750. There will be a 5% rebate for full payment prior to January 31/2020. ($712.50) An option will be made available for 3 equal payments of $250. payable January 31, March 31 and May 31. Pricing for Trail and Race passes at HSB are age-based and a surcharge may be levied depending on age of Athlete.

2.) Race – program designed for athletes participating at any level of Ontario Cup, Canada Cup or beyond. Program runs from Jan 06 to Nov 01.

January 06-April 09 (2 days a week) strength and agility training is at the Barrie YMCA every Monday and Thursday evenings.

April 13-Aug 27 (3 days a week) Mountain Bike/Road training is at HSB every Tuesday and Wednesday with strength training every Thursday.

Sept 01-Nov 01, (3 days a week) Cyclocross training is at HSB Tuesday and Wednesday with Strength training every Thursday.

The Race program includes 4 month YMCA membership (Jan-Apr) $112., Hardwood trail pass $100., Hardwood Wednesday night race series $190., kit $300. Program Cost $1950. This program may be sold a la carte – $525. (Winter strength and agility), $1150 (May-Sept MTB), $275 (Sept-Nov Cyclocross). $1150. MTB portion is a mandatory minimum for participation. There will be a 5% rebate for full payment prior to January 31/2020. ($1852.50) An option will be made available for 3 equal payments of $650. payable January 31, March 31 and May 31. Pricing for Trail and Race passes at HSB are age-based and a deduction may be justified depending on the age of the Athlete.

3.) Masters – Masters members of Hardwood Next Wave enjoy many benefits. Not only does your membership and mentorship support the next generation of cyclists – by supporting their training camps, race projects, coaching etc. – it also provides you with a platform to set your own goals and ride and train with fellow Masters cyclists year-round. This program includes a “race-proven” kit offering of bibs, s.s. jersey and long sleeve 3 season jersey ($300.), access to strength and conditioning as well as CX coaching with our race program ($invaluable). Program Cost $750. An option will be made available for 3 equal payments of $250. payable January 31, March 31 and May 31.

4.) Social Club – Our new offering on the table for 2020 comes from a mid-season request last year to offer a structured organization surrounding a true social ride group in the Orillia area. We developed a framework of participation to foster group social rides for those looking to stay safe and ride responsibly in our area. This program does not include team kit however riders will have access to our team offering once the web portal opens in late January. Program Cost $100. with an option of a further $50 (or $$ whatever), to be put towards our younger riders in support of our various youth program offerings.

Please note that for all of our programs, prices are subject to HST if an athlete’s birthdate is 2005 or earlier.

January 24th looks good for our team banquet and 2020 launch. We will hold this event at Hardwood Ski and Bike. Our 2019 AGM will likely be booked in mid-February – once our Accountants (Rumley Holmes LLP) have completed their review – details to follow! We have chosen a new “kit” manufacturer for our needs in 2020. “Bio Racer” delivered the successful offering – they have a very robust and comfortable product line which we will make available on a “portal store” in late January. We will have some new “artwork” on the jerseys this year – no worries though if your old kit still fits you will be able to use them for training – however, 2020 jerseys will be what the OCA recognizes for team affiliation.

Wow – that is a lot to read – thank you for making it this far!!! Don’t forget our next Joyride 150 is coming up this Wednesday!

We hope your festive season is gearing up nicely! –

All the best,

Your Board of Directors,

Nathan, Rob, Jaime, Gunnar and Marc.
