OCA Welcomes New High Performance Staff

The Ontario Cycling Association [OCA] is pleased to welcome Rob Holmgren as Provincial MTB Coach and Chantal Thompson as High Performance Coordinator and Special Projects Coach.
Rob Holmgren is an NCCP certified coach who brings over 20 years of experience racing and coaching MTB athletes in the Barrie/Orillia area. Rob has also been an avid supporter of the OCA, assisting on a number of initiatives including the annual March Endurance Camps and MTB US-Cup exposure projects.
We are very excited to have Rob in this position. He has substantial experience, and demonstrated success, working with athletes in our target age-range and will provide strong leadership for our MTB programming. – Michael Suraci, High Performance Manager
The position is a part-time contract role focused on providing opportunities for Ontario’s high performing U17/U19/U23 athletes. In addition to with working with identified athletes, Rob will be working closely with MTB coaches and programs across the province in conducting talent identification and development initiatives. Robs first initiative will be leading the Canada Cup Exposure project in May http://www.ontariocycling.org/event/canada-cup-project-2/
Chantal Thompson has been hired into the newly created role of High Performance Coordinator and Special Projects Coach. Chantal has been involved in all aspects of cycling including as an athlete, commissaire, coach, organizer, and volunteer. Over the past three years, Chantal has been assisting with OCA high performance track camps and para-cycling programs as well as coaching with the Town of Milton and the National Cycling Institute Milton. In this role, Chantal will be assisting with the logistics and planning across all cycling disciplines, coordinating coach training (NCCP) opportunities, and leading new initiatives to grow the sport of cycling.
